Introduction 45 minutes before curtain-up
The Bridge Theatre gives us a different slant on “Romeo and Juliet“: four students at a Catholic boarding school are fascinated by Shakespeare's play and decide to act it out. This forms the framework for Joe Calarco's interpretation of Shakespeare's famous love story. What follows is four young guys acting Shakespeare's text. Thrilling to watch and to see how these four conjure up the magic of the words and drive the play forward to its final dramatic conclusion, the play a continual reflection of the students' own situation.
This Bridge Theatre has its home in Phoenix, Arizona and performed Shakespeare's R&J with huge success Off Broadway, in London and at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008.
