Helena, the beautiful but poor daughter of a doctor, is secretly in love with Bertram, the young, wealthy Count of Roussillon, who, however, does not return her feelings. He pre-fers to follow the calling of the aristocracy and leaves for the royal court in Paris, to take part in the war. The old king is dying and Helena, with her father's knowledge of medi-cine, is able to cure him. He, in his turn, grants her a wish. And her wish is to have her count as husband. Is all well, then, that ends well? Director Sebastian Kautz presents us with a new translation, set in modern times, and fills the stage with live music and humour and the larger-than-life characters who people the sensuous world of Shakespeare's plays.
