Description
Director: Stephen Jameson
Stage design: Phil Englehart
Music: Gary Peacock
Lighting: Will Scarnell
Stephen Jameson is back in town! The director who is well remembered for his productions at the Shakespeare Festival at the Globe, Neuss, of "Hamlet," "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and "Titus Andronicus", returns with his new company "Alma Mater" and his production of “Much Ado About Nothing.“ The play is set in Chicago in the 1950s and is accompanied by the music from the ratpack members Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr. und Dean Martin. Beatrice and Benedict's fiery dialogue sounds so much more exciting with this in the background. So many parallels can be drawn to Shakespeare, be it the relief felt at the end of a war or just the longing for love after war. After all, Shakespeare's comedy only reaches a questionably happy ending.
This is a co production with the Alumni of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
