Introduction 45 minutes before the performance

This year the Shakespeare Festival dedicates itself with particularly intensity to
Hamlet, the marvel of English literature and the highest expression of Shakespeare's genius.
Productions from England, Germany, Africa and Asia express the worldliness of the text, which knows no geographical boundaries.

We start with the original version which is brought to you by the Globe Touring Company from London, directed by Dominic Dromgoole, director of the Shakespeare Globe. There is nothing avantegarde here, but rather elementary elizabethan theatre with a handful of travelling actors performing on a wooden stage, where, as Goethe once epoche-makingly foretold Shakespeare's huge popularity - nothing much is shown but an awful lot is expressed.
