Introduction 45 minutes before the performance
Vicianne Regattieri has brought the Neuss Globe stage to life with different productions. Her company performed „Much Ado about Nothing“ and „A Midsummer Night's Dream“ and enacted „As You Like It“ for the Berlin Shakespeare Company. Now the director wants to make a Romeo and Jules, who will play Julia, fall in love with one another. The piece “Romeo et Jules yet“ is performed according to the „all-male tradition“ of the Elizabethan stage. They want to fight for their right to love one another despite all conventions. It is a natural consequence of Shakespeare's universal idea of a love that transgresses all boundaries and genders which we know from his best works: in „Twelfth Night“ a male actor plays a girl, who dresses up like a boy, is sought after by a woman and eventually marries a man. Any questions?
