Introduction 45 minutes before the performance
The magnificent soloist Bea von Malchus, whose interpretation of “Henry VII“ is still fresh on our minds, is back with „Shake Lear!“ on the Globe stage: chicken-breasted princesses, mad seniors, angry bastards, blind fishermen, noisy carriages, screeching court ladies, unshaven tramps, a fool with no sense of orientation, an „indoor“ duke, a pug and the best kisser in England in one big get-together.
King Lear is Shakespeare's darkest tragedy about a father who prematurely divides his wealth, misjudges his daughter's character and pays for it dearly.
“Shake Lear!“ tells the story from the point of view of a court jester: a rich, not quite serious evening about generation conflicts with music and a whole lot of madness.
