Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII of England's wife, is the central character in Shakespeare's “King Henry VIII or All is True“, which was performed in the Globe in. The young Spanish princess (16 years old) wed the English heir to the throne, Arthur Tudor (14 years old). Following his death, she married the four year younger Henry, for whom she did not bear a son, despite many pregnancies. In order to divorce her and to enter a new union with the young Anne Boleyn, he broke away from the Catholic Church and founded the Church of England.

Fundación Siglo de Oro's performance is historical, glorious and ends the way it should, with the baptism of baby Elizabeth, who later became Shakespeare's queen. In her honour, canons were fired during this scene in 1613, setting the Globe on fire.
