To start off the 25th festival at Globe Neuss, we would like to welcome Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory (SATT), a theatre out of Bristol that has been very successful for the past 15 years.
It is a huge sign of confidence for this institution to have entrusted the revival of “Romeo and Juliet“ to the 28-year-old Russian-born and English-trained director Polina Kalinina. Polina Kalinina is considered to be a “shooting star“ amongst England's young directors.
No one has been able to ignore Shakespeare's timeless masterpiece which has been captivating its audience with its linguistic fireworks and a thrilling story for 400 years now. The plot derives its drama from the external circumstances from which the lovers are unable to emerge alive.
Trapped in the family feud, fueled by mistakes and misunderstandings, their young love cannot survive. Their story, however, has made them immortal.
