A series of events at the Shakespeare Festival 2016 present the idea of "Shakespeare and beyond". This also includes Woody Allen's Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy based on the eponymous film from 1982. The pack of poets from Potsdam has brought the fast-paced comedy, based on themes from Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, as a play onto the stage. Three couples spend the weekend in the countryside and end up competing, desiring, and questioning themselves and one another. Who loves whom? How long does love last? Can love and sex be separated? Woody Allen explores various varieties of love, as well as seduction, fears, misunderstandings and desire, lost opportunities and vapid fulfillments. A delightful production by Andreas Hueck.
