Kelly Hunter's intimate Hamlet production shows the measureless grief and the pathological condition of the young hero who cannot even be helped by his closest family and partner. He is possessed by the tormented spirit of his father who does not appear as a "person" but rather who lives in Hamlet himself and seems to overwhelm him surprisingly. A unique approach to the interpretation, which professionals like Michael Dobson from the Shakespeare Institute quickly agreed upon after watching the premiere. Six actors give a fascinating performance in this brief yet very intense production by the Flute Theatre. The play will be shown in Colchester and at the Craiova Shakespeare Festival in Romania before coming to Neuss.
