Claus Peymann asked Veit Schubert, a professor at the Academy of Dramatic Arts "Ernst Busch", to put on a production of Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona with his students. The Berliner Ensemble's performance held in the "Pavilion" of the house on “Schiffbauerdamm“ resulted in a brilliant debut. The enthusiastic audience admired, in sold-out performances, the aesthetics of the production and the ease with which Veit Schubert led his seven actors and actresses through the ludicrous plot which dealt with two friends who seduce women, lie, cheat, and regret - like in real life. Wonderfully narrated in Frank Günther's translation. A huge success, certainly also in Globe Neuss.
