Searching for William in Concert (Programme 2019)

„Macbeth shall never vanquish’d be, until Great Birnam wood to

high Dunsinane hill shall come against him“ (Macbeth, IV, 1). The pop group Woods of Birnam, under singer and actor Christian Friedel, was founded in 2011 and has since engaged intensively with Shakespeare through concerts and three studio albums. Their most famous song "I'll Call Thee Hamlet" (https://bit.ly/2MQE0Wq) testifies to this. It is thanks to their large-scale theater productions, however, such as "Hamlet" 2012 and "Searching for William” 2016, both at Staatsschauspiel Dresden, and the numerous guest appearances in the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, that the Woods of Birnam have made a name for themselves. All the more exciting that the band has agreed to give a concert performance with their “best ofs” for the Shakespeare Festival at the Globe.
