The Life of Eduard II of England
Neues Globe Theater, Potsdam

Description
by Bertolt Brecht adapted by Christopher Marlowe
The historically documented, tragic story of a great love between two men, Edward II, King of England 1284–1327, and his French friend Piers Gaveston (1284–1312), was staged by Bertolt Brecht in 1924 at the Munich Kammerspiele and he created a completely new version together with Lion Feuchtwanger. Brecht's early work contains the later features of epic theatre with its distancing and alienation effects. The Neues Globe Theater from Potsdam brings Brecht’s version of Christopher Marlowe's exciting drama to the Open Air Stage at the Neusser Globe. Definitely worth discovering.
